The Walt Disney Concert Hall is one of Los Angeles, California's finest attractions. The idea of building the concert hall began when Walt Disney's widow, Lilian Disney donated the amount of 50 million dollars. Frank Gehry was able to complete the designs in 1991, and in 1992, the project was launched. It was in December 1999 when the groundbreaking for the concert hall was held. It was finished in 2003 with the total estimated construction cost of 274 million dollars.
The underground parking garage which was built from 1992 to 1996 already cost 110 million dollars. The construction of the concert hall itself cost an estimated amount of 130 million dollars, and there were other expenses paid. The total estimated amount of contribution of the Disney family in the construction of this concert hall is 84.5 million dollars. The Walt Disney Company donated 25 million dollars.
