The inside of the Auditorio de Tenerife is divided into three main spaces for cultural events. Entering into the Main Hall, a guest fins a 13,000 square foot area that can be opened to incorporate the view and feel of the ocean. This space is large enough for huge events and attractions and features wonderful views of the Atlantic Ocean for ambiance and drama. The open-air feel is a very unique feature of the architecture of the building.
There is also a lovely curved space called The Symphony Hall for concerts with excellent acoustics in an amphitheater style that enable a visitor to have an unprecedented experience of sound. The space is often used for the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra. Performances. One unique feature is that the stage has a 100% visibility from anywhere in the stalls to enjoy whatever event is taking place. The view from this area of the building shows the Two Towers of Santa Cruz, the tallest residential buildings in the whole of Spain.
The Chamber Hall is the smallest of the three interior spaces (approximately 1,600 square feet) and is used for smaller events. Located toward the point of the building, it also offers great acoustical properties and excellent seating opportunities for events.
Outdoor space is also a huge part of the Auditorio de Tenerife, with an Atlantic Terrace and a City Terrace. Both are open to the air and can serve up to 350 people with 4,000 square feet of space. Many events are enhanced by the outdoor space.
The auditorium is often used for cultural musical performances, conferences, product launches and filming. It is also a huge tourist attraction for Santa Cruz. It was officially opened by the Prince of Asturias Felipe de Borbon and received media coverage from all over the world. On January 28, 2011, a proposal to rename the building, “Auditorio de Tenerife Adan Martin” in memory of the President of the Canary Islands, Adan Martin Menis. He was a huge force in the project to build the structure but some residents were not in favor of the name change.
