Iceland's largest and capital city, Reykjavik, has a lot to offer to tourists. The country has a rich history. It is perfect for people who are looking for a temperate climate and lots of places to visit. Here are some of the popular landmarks in Reykjavik.
Perlan

The Perlan was inaugurated in 1991. It looks like a spaceship for most people and it can be seen from anywhere the city since it is located on top of the skjuhl hill. There are six hot water tanks, which heat up the houses in the city, surrounding the Perlan.

The Strkur outside Perlan simulates geysers. You will be able to find a museum, a garden, and a fountain. There is a rotating restaurant on top of the structure, too. There is also a forest nearby that would make you feel you are in a different place since the city does not have plenty of trees.

Geysir

Have you ever wondered where geysers got their name? Geysir is a place near Bjarnfell where you could find hot springs. The Geysir erupts and produces water that reaches up to 70 meters from the ground. There is no guarantee that there will be a water eruption every time so the Strkur is a good alternative.

Hallgrimskirja

The Hallgrimskirja is a 73-meter tall tower that is visible from almost every part of Reykjavik. It is part of a church that was built in 1980s. The architect who designed the tower wanted to imitate lava flows. The outcome is a spacious structure that provides a modern ambiance. The organ inside the church is attention-grabbing. Being 15 meters tall, it is the tallest organ in the entire Iceland. At the top of Hallgrimskirja, you will get a great view of the city including the houses, harbor, and mountains.

National Museum

Many travelers love to visit museums in various places they visit. The National Museum of Iceland is located in Reykjavik. Taking photographs inside the museum is forbidden but a visit to this landmark is a must. It has three floors of artifacts including swords and decorations from the Viking era.

Old Harbor

The Old Harbor is not that old. Its construction was completed in 1917. It used to be the center of trades. Today, this place is great for tourists who want to see a nice view of the sea, sun and whales.

Slfar

The Slfar or Sun Voyager is a sculpture of a Viking ship made from steel by Jon Gunnar Arnason. The same waterfront where the Sun Voyager is located is where you could also find locals who stroll, ride a bike or jog. It is a great Reykjavik landmark to visit on solstice.

Tjrnin

The Tjrnin is another popular landmark in Reykjavik. It is a natural body of water that can be found at the center of the city. It is near the university, city hall and other landmarks. This is a good place to visit and watch the sunset especially during summer or winter.

Thank you for the sensible critique. Me & my neighbour were preparing to do some research about that. We got a good book on that matter from our local library and most books where not as influensive as your information.
